Tokens & Billing

How the token economy works, what refunds automatically, and how to buy more.

The basics

  • 1 token = 1 generated image -- a comic/manga panel, a GIF frame, or a
character preview.
  • Video costs more than 1 token because a clip is much more expensive to
render than a single image; the exact cost per length (5s/10s/15s) is shown next to each option before you generate.
  • Free plan: 10 tokens every month, reset automatically -- you don't need
to do anything to claim it.
  • Token packs (Starter, Creator) are a one-time purchase. Purchased tokens
never expire; they sit on top of your monthly free balance as one combined balance.
  • There is no subscription -- you're never billed automatically or on a
recurring basis. Buying a pack is a single one-time charge.

When you get tokens back automatically

You never need to ask for these -- they happen the moment the failure is detected:

  • A generation that fails a content check, comes back invalid, times out, or
hits a rate limit.
  • A generation whose job gets interrupted server-side (for example during a
maintenance deploy).
  • A video that fails outright, or one that succeeds only as a fallback static
image -- you're refunded the difference between what a full video costs and what the fallback actually used.
  • Wobble Maker: if the local GIF encode fails after you were charged, the
charge is reversed.

If your balance doesn't visibly update within a few seconds of a failure notice, refresh the page -- the balance shown in the header is cached briefly.

Buying a pack

Packs are purchased through Pricing (top nav, or gootaku.com/pricing) via our payment processor, Creem. You'll be redirected to a secure checkout page; tokens land on your account automatically once payment completes.
